60 Books to Read in 2019

It’s the start of the new year! A clean slate for #newyearnewme and all that garbage… I actually do like the idea of being able to start over. It’s like being able to hit reset and try again in the hopes that this time we’ll get it right. Except this year I’m trying something new.

One of the good habits I’m looking to reinforce in 2019, includes making time to read more. To help keep me accountable, I have curated a list with some titles that I’ve been looking at for a while, as well as I few new ones. My taste is somewhat eclectic in that I’ve thrown in a bit of the classics, along with some self-help… and a LOT of fiction.

Some of these I’ve read before and I have been looking to re-read, while others I started but never finished. Most, however, are pretty new in that I’ve had the books on my shelf and never finished the first in the series, so I didn’t bother reading on.

As I get through my list, my end goal is to come back here to update with a completed date and my thoughts on the book(s).

  1. Outlander (Book 1 – Outlander Series) by Diana Gabaldon – Finished 1/5/19: I started out not sure how I would feel about the book, but within the first chapter I was completely in love with the characters and scenery that had been laid out before me. It became increasingly difficult to put down, the farther I read. I’m anxiously looking forward to moving on to book two!
  2. Dragonfly In Amber (Book 2 – Outlander Series) by Diana Gabaldon – Finished 1/9/19: The book threw me off, but only because I was unsure what to expect out of the story. There were some parts where it seemed to drag a bit (necessary in order to give background to the story and history), but it didn’t keep me from being able to finish the story – it definitely picked back up.
  3. Voyager (Book 3 – Outlander Series) by Diana Gabaldon – Finished 1/22/19: I was infinitely glad to have the main characters reunited, but some parts of the book were a little difficult to follow. There’s a LOT more action in this third book in the series, than I recall there being in the first two.
